Why connecting to nature matters
Connecting to nature isn’t just about going outside and getting some fresh air or taking a stroll along the beach. It’s about thinking of ourselves and our wider human and ecological relationships. By having a stronger and fuller connection with nature, you can experience things in ways that you don’t currently do.
When you experience things differently, you start to think differently, and this can help change a lot of things in your life and enhance positive experiences.
What nature brings
Nature offers much more to us than we can imagine. The textures and forms of the planet appeal directly to the deepest aspects of your human consciousness and subconscious. We are part of the nature that’s around us. That’s why it’s important to learn to connect with it to become more spiritual and fulfilled with life.
Our relationship with the environment
A powerful and close relationship with the environment is built into the human psyche. When we look at history, we see that animals, nature, mountains, rivers, trees, the sun, and the moon have always been honoured and looked to as symbols that are meaningful and important.
Over time we have moved away from our connection to nature, and we find ourselves polluting and destroying the environment. By bringing back the attitudes of the past, we can strengthen our connection with nature once more.
How to connect to nature
For this kind of connection to happen, we need first to take time to see the nature deep within us. We need to think about our skills and talents and what we can do for the wellbeing of ourselves and others. Having a deeper, stronger connection with ourselves helps open our connection to nature, remove negative emotions, elevate our spiritual consciousness, and create a desire to care for the whole planet. This opens us up to vital relationships with ourselves, with others, and with the environment.
If you’re unsure where to start, then here are some tips:
Music and dance – tapping into rhythms, moving around, and feeling emotions from lyrics are all things that can help you open your mind.
Moderate exercise – light exercise always heightens awareness of self and makes you feel good. Make sure you do something you like otherwise you’ll associate negativity to it.
Balanced diet – getting vital nutrition helps to keep your body and mind in balance.
Yoga – a wonderful way to breathe, think and connect with your own body and understand what it can do.
Meditation – a fantastic way to relax but also to connect with your inner self and maybe even with your spirit guides.
Get out into nature – go outside, go to places you’ve never been before, really look at what’s around you, even take photos and look at them later. Take in the sounds, smells and colours.
Always be thankful for Mother Earth; take off your shoes and walk on the grass, feel her under your feet and be forever grateful. Help the planet, help your friends, and always help and look after yourself.
Love and Light!
